Modificação e avaliação de um secador rotativo horizontal, com distribuição radial do fluxo de ar, para secagem de café

Abstract

Com o objetivo de avaliar as modificações técnicas e operacionais em um secador rotativo horizontal foram conduzidos seis testes de secagem divididos em dois tratamentos, com três testes cada. A temperatura do ar de secagem foi controlada em 60oC. Os teores de água iniciais do produto foram diferentes em cada teste realizado. Foram utilizados dois secadores rotativos, sendo um comercial e o outro modificado. Utilizou-se como produto o café (Coffea arabica L.) cereja lavado (tratamento 1) e cereja lavado com meia seca (tratamento 2). Como testemunha fez-se, no terreiro, ao sol, uma secagem para cada ensaio até que o café atingisse o teor de água final igual a 11 - 12 % b.u., visando a comparação de qualidade do produto. Para a avaliação da eficiência energética de secagem dos sistemas, determinaram-se o consumo de combustível e o consumo de energia elétrica. Com base nos resultados obtidos, foi possível observar menor consumo especifico de energia no secador rotativo com as modificações propostas, em todos os testes. Um menor consumo de energia elétrica também foi observado no secador rotativo modificado. A qualidade do produto final foi a mesma nos dois secadores. Não houve diferença entre os tempos de secagem nos dois secadores testados.

With the objective of evaluating the technical and operational modifications in a horizontal rotative dryer six drying tests were led divided in two treatments, with three tests each. The temperature of the drying air was controlled in 60oC. The tenors of water initial of the product were different in each accomplished test. Two rotative dryers were used, being a commercial and the another modified. It was used as product the coffee (Coffea arabica L.) cherry washed (treatment 1) and cherry washed with stocking it evaporates (treatment 2). As witness was made, in the yard, in the sun, a drying for each rehearsal until that the coffee reached the tenor of final water same to 11 - 12% b.u., seeking the comparison of quality of the product. For the evaluation of the energy efficiency of drying of the systems, they were determined the consumption of fuel and the electric power consumption. With base in the obtained results, it was possible to observe smaller consumption specify of energy in the rotative dryer with the proposed modifications, in all the tests. A smaller electric power consumption was also observed in the modified rotative dryer. The quality of the final product was the same in the two dryers. There was not difference among the times of drying in the two tested dryers.
